Anyone who knows Steve knows he was soul-searching for a very long time for his other. He had sketched out a rough version of this tattoo some time ago with only one bird, a dove, explaining that he would know the second bird when he met the person he would spend the rest of his life with.

Sometime last year, was it?...he met Aerin. Aerin is a brilliant, beautiful woman with a wonderful sense of humor, and a great line of work which parallels her vast interests.

So when us friend-types saw Steve and Aerin together for the first time, we must have collectively taken a step back in awe, and reacted pretty much with "Dude! She's the one!" Because their dynamic together, of course, catalysed the creation of this tattoo, and Steve recieved it as a present for his birthday.

Aerin has informed me that a red-winged blackbird is her bird of choice, so this will be revised soon! Tbh I want to redo the dove to match the slightly bigger feathers of how the red-winged blackbird is coming out...basically to solidify the styles a little bit more with the central fiery heart.
